Sachin Y. Shinde

Dr. Sachin Y. Shinde is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He specializes in Experimental Fluid Mechanics with research interests spanning biofluiddynamics, swimming/flying mechanics, fluid-structure interactions, and propulsion systems using flapping foils.

His educational background includes a PhD (2012) and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, where his doctoral thesis focused on thrust generation via oscillating flexible foils. He completed his B.E. at Walchand College of Engineering in 2000.

Professional experience includes postdoctoral work at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (2012-2015) and prior industry experience as a Graduate Engineer at PHILIPS India. Since 2015, he has been a faculty member at IIT Kanpur.
