Sacha Beniamine is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the University of Surrey's School of Literature & Languages, affiliated with the Surrey Morphology Group (SMG). He holds a PhD from the University of Paris and previously served as a British Academy Newton International Fellow at the Max Planck Institutes in Jena and Leipzig. His research focuses on computational linguistics, language evolution, and morphological typology, particularly investigating inflectional paradigms and computational methodologies for linguistic analysis.
His academic trajectory includes postdoctoral research on inflectional lexicons and evolutionary models at the Max Planck Department of Linguistic and Cultural Evolution (DLCE). Key areas of expertise include morphological analysis, typological variation of inflection classes, and the development of computational tools for linguistic research.
- Education: PhD from University of Paris (LLF Lab), Postdoctoral Research at Max Planck Institutes
Research interests emphasize computational approaches to morphological typology, studying how inflectional systems evolve and stabilize. Current projects explore paradigm dynamics using agent-based models and implicative structures in verbal conjugations. Notable contributions include developing the Paralex standard for inflected lexicons and the Romance Verbal Inflection Dataset.
His work has been recognized through prestigious fellowships such as the Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship and British Academy Newton International Fellowship. He actively contributes to open data practices in linguistics through collaborations with the SMG and DLCE.
