Sabrina Morano is an Assistant Professor of Wildlife Conservation at the University of Maine's Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology. She is located at 5755 Nutting Hall, Room 222, Orono, ME. Her research focuses on population ecology of large mammals, particularly how landscape composition and climate influence movement and resource use. Dr. Morano holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nevada, Reno (Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology Program) and a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (Natural Resource Conservation, Wildlife).
Her research interests include the impacts of climate patterns and resource availability on mule-deer and elk populations in the western U.S., as well as expanding studies to northeast forest ecosystems. She emphasizes integrating societal and cultural values into natural resource management strategies. Dr. Morano teaches undergraduate courses and advises the Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society.
