Sabrina J. Curtis is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia, affiliated with the Human Services Youth-Nex department. Her work focuses on youth-oriented nonprofit, public service, and education spaces through a Black feminist lens. She teaches in the youth and social innovation program, emphasizing critical thinking and social awareness.
Education: Ph.D. from The George Washington University, M.A. from Texas Southern University, and B.A. from the University of New Mexico. Her research explores civic engagement of Black women/girls, feminist pedagogies, and sociopolitical development. She designs community programs in youth advocacy training, civic education for women of color, and rural youth leadership development.
Certified in gender equity, civic identity development, and Black feminist theory applications. Consults organizations on youth advocacy and gender equity strategies. Active in both academic research and grassroots community initiatives.
