Amy Voida is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, with adjunct appointments in Computer Science and the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. She earned her Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Dr. Voida's research bridges Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), and Ubiquitous Computing through the lens of Philanthropic Informatics, focusing on how technologies mediate philanthropy and civic engagement. Her work explores algorithmic fairness, service learning pedagogy, and infrastructuring in nonprofit and safety-critical contexts.
Recent publications highlight fairness-aware recommendation systems, data feminism, and service learning frameworks in computing education. She also investigates temporal sensemaking in crisis response, stress management technologies, and the sociopolitical implications of data systems in advocacy.
As a founding faculty member, she contributes to shaping the interdisciplinary mission of the Department of Information Science. Her collaborative approach spans nonprofit organizations, grassroots movements, and educational institutions, emphasizing ethical design and equity in technological interventions.
