Sabrina Gowette

Sabrina Gowette is an Assistant Professor and Director of Fieldwork Education in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Graduate College of Health Sciences. She holds an OTD in Occupational Therapy from Touro University Nevada, an MS in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University, and a BS in Journalism from the University of Oregon.

Dr. Gowette specializes in mental and behavioral health, with a focus on occupational justice for underserved populations. Her scholarly work emphasizes integrating mental health education into occupational therapy curricula and advocating for flexible hybrid learning environments. She has presented regionally on health behavior changes and social supports for LGBTQIA+ adolescents.

Her professional experience includes serving as Director of Rehabilitation at a neuro residential and outpatient clinic, specializing in community reintegration and mental health services for adults. At HPU, she bridges her clinical expertise with academic leadership to support students’ readiness for diverse practice settings.

Outside her academic roles, Dr. Gowette balances her time with her family, attending her children’s sporting events, swimming, hiking, and engaging in dance parties with her three sons and two dogs.
