Sabino Morera is an Associate Professor of Latin American and Hispanic Studies and Program Coordinator for Spanish Language Studies at Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. With over 25 years of teaching experience in Spanish and English, he specializes in content-based language instruction, translation, and interdisciplinary approaches to Latin American studies. His work emphasizes the intersection of education, democracy, and diplomacy in Latin America.

Morera’s research focuses on Latin American politics, human development, and the role of education in reducing inequality. His courses frequently integrate fieldwork in Costa Rica, examining sustainable development goals and conflict transformation.
His academic practice bridges language education with policy analysis, emphasizing multilingualism, intercultural communication, and social justice. Morera also leads immersive programs in Costa Rica, collaborating with the University for Peace to explore development challenges.
