Dr. Sabine Uijl is a Researcher at Utrecht University's Faculty of Humanities, Department of Media and Culture Studies, and serves as Strategic Programme Manager for Education within the EWUU alliance (Eindhoven University of Technology, Wageningen University & Research, Utrecht University, UMC Utrecht).
Her research centers on Higher Education Research and Life Sciences, with emphasis on teacher competence evolution amid interdisciplinary educational shifts. She investigates how educators transition from traditional 'sage on the stage' lecturing to 'guide on the side' facilitation roles, analyzing required skills and attitudes for modern pedagogical flexibility.
Dr. Uijl co-led a government-funded project with KU Leuven mapping teacher competences, resulting in a peer-reviewed publication and prepared PhD grant application. The initiative involved Prof. Dr. Iris van der Tuin and Lars Heuver MSc, focusing on institutional adaptation to evolving educational landscapes through collaborative university alliances.
