Sabine Mohamed is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Johns Hopkins University's Krieger School of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on political, urban, and economic anthropology, with specializations in urban dispossession, racial dynamics, and imperial infrastructures in East Africa. She examines how blackness and race intersect with emerging imperial structures through ethnographic work in Addis Ababa and archival research on transatlantic black identity circulation.
Her research spans multiple geographic contexts including Ethiopia, Eritrea, East Africa, and Germany, with forthcoming work on gendered labor in East African economic corridors. She co-convened the Network for Contemporary Anthropological Theory and co-founded bildungslab*, a feminist scholars collective reimagining pedagogy.
