Sabine Leitner

Sabine Leitner MSc serves as a Research Associate at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, specifically within the Faculty of Health and the Competence Center for Preclinical Imaging and Medical Technology. She also contributes to the Master's Program in MedTech – functional imaging, conventional and ion radiotherapy. Her professional affiliations include leadership roles in rtAustria (Professional Association for Radiologic Technology Austria) where she served as Chairman from 2005-2024, and membership in the European Society for Molecular Imaging (2019-2024).

Dr. Leitner's research focuses on advancing preclinical imaging technologies for medical applications, particularly in radiotherapy. Her work spans several key areas including molecular imaging in personalized precision radiotherapy, development of 3D-printed surgical guides to reduce animal experimentation, and expanding radiobiological understanding of ion beams. She employs various imaging techniques such as micro-CT, PET, and precision irradiators to improve quantitative assessment and treatment planning in preclinical research.

Her recent publication record shows consistent output in medical physics and imaging journals, with a focus on technical validation of small animal imaging systems.
