Sabine Hildebrandt is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School (HMS), and a Lecturer on Global Health and Social Medicine at HMS. She teaches anatomy and medical history at Harvard Medical School and Harvard College. Her research focuses on the history and ethics of anatomy, particularly during National Socialist Germany. She is affiliated with the Faculty of Arts & Sciences at Harvard and collaborates with the Historical Commission on the Reichsuniversität Strassburg 1941-44.
Her notable publications include The Anatomy of Murder (2016), a seminal work on anatomy during the Third Reich, and a biography of physician Käthe Beutler (2019). She is co-editing Recognizing the Past in the Present: Medicine before, during and after the Holocaust, set for publication in 2021. Her educational approach integrates anatomical science with ethical and historical perspectives.
