Dr. Saba Safdar is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Guelph's College of Social & Applied Human Sciences. Her research focuses on cross-cultural psychology, particularly the acculturation processes of immigrants, refugees, and international students. She leads the Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and collaborates with global organizations to advance theoretical and applied knowledge on cultural adaptation and social inclusion.
Education: PhD (Social Psychology) and MA (Social Psychology) from York University, B.A. Honours (Psychology) from McMaster University.
Research emphasizes intergroup relations, immigrant resilience, and the impact of cultural identity on adaptation. Key contributions include the Multidimensional Individual Differences Acculturation (MIDA) model validated across multiple countries.
