Sevim Ayça Seyyar is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine. She completed her medical specialization (2014-2018) at Gaziantep University and medical degree (2007-2013) at Kocaeli University. Her clinical and academic work focuses on retinal surgery, choroidal diseases, and ocular imaging using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).

Her research explores macular pathology, choroidal vascularity, and diabetic retinopathy through OCT angiography. She has pioneered a posture-free macular hole surgery technique using viscoelastic application and published extensively on topics like vitamin D's role in eye disease and mydriatic drug impacts in pediatric populations.
Recent article trends show strong emphasis on systemic-ocular correlations (Familial Mediterranean Fever, diabetes), surgical innovation (ILM flap modifications), and digital ophthalmology (social media analysis for patient education). She supervises two completed medical theses (2025) on retinal pathology and mydriatic effects.
