Dr. IŞIK's research primarily centers on Nietzschean philosophy, political theology, and the intersection of philosophy with historical and political thought. Their work examines Nietzsche's critiques of democracy, his reinterpretation of sensory perception, and his philosophical anthropology. Additionally, Dr. IŞIK explores the relationship between Eastern and Western philosophical traditions, particularly through figures like Ali Shariati, and investigates concepts of sovereignty, exception, and political theology in thinkers from Plato to contemporary postmodern philosophers. Their scholarship demonstrates a consistent engagement with questions of power, ethics, and the philosophical foundations of political systems.
Analysis of Dr. IŞIK's recent publications reveals a strong focus on Nietzsche studies, with particular attention to his concepts of eternal recurrence, Dionysian philosophy, and critiques of traditional morality. Their work also shows significant engagement with political philosophy, examining sovereignty through the lens of both classical thinkers like Locke and Schmitt, and contemporary political challenges. The research demonstrates a methodological approach that bridges historical analysis with contemporary philosophical concerns, often connecting philosophical concepts to current sociopolitical issues in Turkey and the broader Middle East region.
Dr. IŞIK has supervised six theses, with two currently in progress and four completed. Their advising work spans topics including Nietzsche's critique of democracy, sophisticated foundations of Nietzschean ethics, criticism of Plato in postmodern philosophy, civil society and intellectuals in Gramsci, and the historical development of civil union phenomena from Türkiye's perspective. This demonstrates their commitment to mentoring the next generation of philosophers and political theorists while maintaining a diverse research portfolio that bridges historical and contemporary philosophical concerns.
