S. V. Subramanian

S. V. Subramanian is a Professor of Population Health and Geography at Harvard University, with primary affiliations at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences), the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies, and the Department of Sociology. He chairs the Faculty Advisory Group for Harvard’s Center for Geographic Analysis and serves as Director of the Geographic Insights Lab.

His research focuses on precision public policy, multilevel statistical modeling, geographic variation in health, and social inequalities in low-/middle-income countries. Current projects explore electoral geography, nutrition, and health heterogeneity using data science approaches.

Subramanian has earned the 2020 PROSE Award for Best New Journal in Social Sciences (for SSM – Population Health) and has been a Highly Cited Researcher since 2015. He has taught multilevel methods at Harvard since 2001 and mentored over 185 students.
