S. Paige Canfield is a Professor and Director of Appellate Advocacy at the Saint Louis University School of Law. She holds a B.A. in English from Florida State University and a J.D. from SLU LAW. Her professional career spans over 23 years, including roles as an Illinois law firm associate, law clerk for the Honorable David P. McDonald, Legal Research Attorney for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals Library, and Appellate Public Defender for eight years. She has also practiced in general law firms and as a sole practitioner, focusing on criminal appeals, post-conviction issues, and probate matters.
Dr. Canfield teaches courses such as Competition-Based Advocacy, Legal Research and Writing, and Moot Court. She has contributed chapters to Practitioner's Handbooks and presented CLE materials through the Missouri Bar. Her expertise centers on appellate advocacy, legal research methodologies, and practical litigation skills.
