S. Brent Rodriguez-Plate is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Hamilton College, where he explores the intersections of sensory experience and spiritual life. His work spans religion and film, material culture, and interfaith engagement, often addressing pedagogical practices in theological education.
He serves as president of CrossCurrents/ The Association of Religion and Intellectual Life and co-chair of the Interfaith Coalition of Greater Utica, NY. His recent publications include A History of Religion in 5½ Objects, Religion and Film, and co-edited Religion in Museums, reflecting his focus on embodied and visual dimensions of religious practice.
As a contributor to the Wabash Center's blog series, he has written on topics like visual constructions of race and trauma-informed pedagogy. His teaching emphasizes digital media, decolonial approaches, and emotional labor in education.
