Rüya Taşlı

Prof. Dr. Rüya Taşlı is a Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU). She has held academic positions since 1982, progressing from a Bachelor’s degree to a PhD in Environmental Engineering at ITU. Her research focuses on water and wastewater treatment, treatment plant design, and biotechnology applications.

Her educational background includes a Licence (BSc) from ITU (1982-1986), followed by a PhD completed in 1996. She has been a Research Assistant (1987-1997), Assistant Professor (1997-1998), and Associate Professor (1998-2006) before becoming a full Professor in 2006.

Research interests include advanced wastewater treatment systems, nutrient removal technologies, and biopolymer production using microbial processes. Her work emphasizes sustainable solutions for industrial and municipal wastewater challenges. She is a member of the International Water Association and Turkish National Committee for Water Pollution Research and Control.

Publications span topics like sequencing batch reactor (SBR) optimization, life cycle assessment in treatment plant design, and biotechnology-driven waste management. Her research bridges theoretical modeling and practical implementation in sensitive coastal and urban areas.
