Rønnaug Sørensen

Rønnaug Sørensen is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Culture, Religion and Social Studies within the Faculty of Humanities, Sports and Educational Sciences at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), where she teaches in teacher education programs.

Her research centers on critical societal issues including:

• Sexual harassment and legal protections in Norway
• Democracy and citizenship education
• Life management and public health frameworks
• Power dynamics in schools and kindergartens
• Toxic masculinity and contemporary feminist movements

Sørensen analyzes how informal gender regulations perpetuate masculine dominance through symbolic violence, using real-world cases like the #MeToo movement and Norwegian TV series SKAM. Her current work examines youth culture phenomena including Andrew Tate's influence, tradwife conservatism, and the 4B movement's impact on gender relations among young people.
