Prof. Réginald Auger is a Full Professor of Archaeology at Université Laval's Department of Historical Sciences since 1994. A graduate of the University of Calgary, he leads the CFI-funded Laboratoires d’archéologie de l’Université Laval and founded the Groupe de recherche en archéométrie with FRQ-SC support. His research focuses on urban archaeology in Quebec City and long-term studies of a French Guianan sugar plantation, alongside multidisciplinary work on Elizabethan-era mineral exploration and Martin Frobisher's voyages to Baffin Island (collaborating with the Smithsonian Institution). He directed Université Laval's archaeology, ethnology, and museum studies programs (2001–2004) and the multidisciplinary CELAT research center (2006–2009), involving 30 members across four universities. Prof. Auger teaches archaeology theory/practice and supervises graduate students in Canada, the U.S., and France focusing on early modern archaeology.
