Ryon J. Cobb

Ryon J. Cobb is an Assistant Professor of Social Work and Chancellor's Scholar for Inclusive Excellence in Research on Black Americans at Rutgers University. His work focuses on health disparities, racialization of religion, and aging among Black populations. He holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University and has been funded by major institutions including the NIH, Ford Foundation, and Smithsonian Institute.

His research investigates how systemic oppression impacts health outcomes, particularly renal health in older Black adults. He bridges sociology of religion and public health to address ethnoracial disparities. His peer-reviewed work appears in journals like Journal of Gerontology and Ethnic and Racial Studies.

Recent NIH fellowships provide pilot funding and grantsmanship training to advance his NIH-level research applications. His collaborative projects include partnerships with the Smithsonian Institute and Ford Foundation.
