Ryan Trainor is an Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Franklin & Marshall College. He holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Caltech (2015), M.S. from Caltech (2010), and B.S. from UC Irvine (2008). His research focuses on galaxy evolution in the early universe, particularly feedback mechanisms in galaxy formation.
His investigations examine stellar element production, galactic outflows, quasar effects on surrounding environments, and photon escape mechanisms. Professor Trainor's work integrates observational data with theoretical models to understand cosmic evolution.
He has received significant recognition including the Fulbright US Scholar Award (2024-2025) and Cottrell Scholar Award (2022-2025). His publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to understanding high-redshift galaxy properties through advanced spectroscopic methods.
Professor Trainor mentors students in astronomical research, including former advisee Vicente Brambila, and develops educational resources through the ESCIP collaboration.
