Associate Professor Ryan Tang holds a PhD from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and an MBA from Peking University. He specializes in international business strategies, global grand challenges, and multinational enterprise (MNE) dynamics. His research focuses on resilience, innovation, and long-term success for firms in Oceania, Asia, Europe, and North America.
His affiliations include Griffith University's Business School (Department of Management) and research entities such as the Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing, Griffith Asia Institute, and the Centre for Governance and Public Policy. He serves as Vice President of the Australia and New Zealand International Business Academy and holds editorial roles at top-tier journals including the Journal of International Business Studies and International Business Review.
Research interests span institutional environments, digital innovation, foreign direct investment (FDI), and cross-cultural management. Awards include the Emerald Literati Highly Commended Paper Award and multiple Best Reviewer recognitions. Teaching expertise covers international business, strategic management, and research methods at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
His recent work explores topics such as bootleg music industries, CEO narcissism and innovation, and the digitalization of record labels. He leads research teams funded by the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with media engagement on platforms like SBS.
