Ryan T. Maguire serves as both Front Desk Administrator in the Academic Advising office and Adjunct Professor for COM 117 at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He joined Newhouse in 2024, bringing practical industry experience to his academic role.

Ryan's professional background informs his teaching and administrative work, with expertise spanning television production, broadcast journalism, and media communications. His hands-on experience in newsrooms and production environments provides valuable real-world perspective to students. His research interests center on contemporary media production techniques, entertainment journalism, and the intersection of traditional broadcast media with digital platforms.
Ryan plays a critical role in the academic advising process, greeting guests, answering student and parent inquiries, assisting with scheduling, handling paperwork, and supporting advisors throughout the academic process. His dual role bridges administrative support and academic instruction within the communications curriculum.
Before joining Newhouse, Ryan gained significant industry experience including an NYSBA summer internship at CNYCentral where he wrote web stories, followed by entertainment journalism work for Collider. He also served as a studio manager at Newhouse starting in fall 2023, providing production support particularly for Orange Television Network.
