Ryan Smith Madan is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of Humanities & Arts at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), affiliated with the Professional Writing, Writing & Rhetoric, and Writing Center programs. He holds a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh (2012), MA (2008), BA from UCLA (2002), and AA from Pasadena City College (2000). His research focuses on the philosophies underpinning writing instruction, particularly how educational priorities reflect cultural values and institutional goals. He critiques traditional grammar-centric approaches and advocates for reflective pedagogies that integrate narrative knowledge-making and post-colonial theory.
