Ryan Morgan serves as a Lecturer in Popular Music and Musical Theatre at the School of Pop, Jazz, Traditional, Voice and Theatre Studies, Munster Technological University (MTU). Prior to his music career, he worked as a law lecturer before transitioning to professional performance in 2008. His academic credentials include a PhD, Master of Music (MMus), Licentiate of RockSchool London (LRSL), and law degrees (LLB (Hons), LLM).
His educational background encompasses advanced vocal training with Robert Beare (former CSM singing teacher) and Dr. Veronica Dunne at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, culminating in a Master's degree from the Conservatory of Music and Drama, DIT under Stephen Wallace. He also holds formal qualifications in music pedagogy through RockSchool London.
Morgan's research and performance practice centers on Popular Music and Musical Theatre, with significant emphasis on vocal technique across diverse genres. His work bridges classical oratorio traditions and contemporary stage performance, demonstrated through extensive professional engagements including major theatrical productions and high-profile solo recitals. He maintains active performance-based research through continuous engagement with evolving musical theatre repertoires and popular music vocal styles.
From 2016 to 2022, Morgan directed the Lord Mayor's Gala Christmas Concert at Cork City Hall, showcasing his leadership in large-scale arts programming. His performance history includes principal roles in award-winning productions such as 'Der Vampyr' at the Everyman Palace Theatre, 'La Traviata', 'Carmen', and 'The Merry Widow', alongside solo appearances in major classical works including Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, and Beethoven's Mass in C.
