Corey McKern serves as the Interim Director and Instructor of Voice at the Dr. Grier Williams School of Music, University of West Florida. He teaches applied voice, voice studio, and classes in music and theater departments. McKern is a baritone with over 40 roles in opera and concerts, performing internationally and across the U.S. Notable engagements include Carnegie Hall performances (Fauré’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Mass in C) and roles like Marcello in La Bohème (Opera Hong Kong, Santa Fe Opera) and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus (Florentine Opera).
Education: B.M. in Music Education (Mississippi University), M.M. in Voice Performance (Indiana University Jacobs School of Music), and completion of the Seattle Opera Young Artist Program. Awards include Sullivan Foundation grants and competition victories. His career highlights include solo performances with the Phoenix Symphony and Seattle Symphony, alongside international opera productions.
Research interests focus on vocal performance, opera staging, and classical music pedagogy. McKern’s recent activities include preparations for roles in The Merry Widow (Pensacola Opera) and continued concert collaborations. He actively engages in community outreach through university programs and artistic partnerships.
