Ryan Groom is a Senior Lecturer in Performance Analysis at the University of Derby's College of Science and Engineering. His research examines performance analysis methodologies, coaching effectiveness, and organizational change in elite sports contexts including football, rugby, and paralympic sports.
Current projects investigate data-driven approaches in football recruitment, relative age effects in combat sports, and coaching dynamics in women's rugby. His work employs ethnographic and qualitative methods to analyze coaching interactions, trust-building in performance analysis teams, and micro-political aspects of organizational change in professional sports academies.
