Ryan Dippre is an Associate Professor of English and Director of College Composition at the University of Maine's Department of English. He holds a B.A. and M.S. from Wilkes University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
His research focuses on writing development across the lifespan, emphasizing how philosophical and technological factors shape writing practices. Key interests include moment-to-moment writing development, K-16 educational continuity, and the role of feedback in writing improvement.
Recent work explores writing activity trajectories and literate patterns in students, presented at venues like the National Council of Teachers of English and American Educational Research Association conferences. His publications address topics ranging from source evaluation to poetry pedagogy in peer-reviewed journals and educational platforms.
Teaching responsibilities include foundational composition courses (English 101, 301) and graduate-level instruction (English 693). His work integrates innovative teaching strategies with empirical research on writing processes.
