Ryan Carter is an Associate Professor of Music at Hamilton College, specializing in contemporary music composition and digital arts. His work bridges acoustic composition with computer programming, exemplified by his interactive app iMonkeypants.
- Education: Ph.D. in Music Composition from New York University, M.A. from Stony Brook University, B.Mus. from Oberlin Conservatory.
Carter's research focuses on algorithmic composition, electronic music, and real-time interactive sound synthesis using the RTcmix audio programming language. His compositions have been performed by renowned ensembles including the Cleveland Chamber Symphony and the International Contemporary Ensemble.
Recent commissions include works for Carnegie Hall, the Calder Quartet, and the National Flute Association. His publications and recordings have been released by major labels such as KAIROS Records and Navona Records.
