Ryan Benally serves as an Assistant Professor with Utah State University Extension in San Juan County, specializing in community health, tribal health initiatives, and 4-H Youth Development programming through the Home and Community unit.

His research and programmatic work emphasizes community health worker certification systems, youth nutrition interventions, and health equity frameworks—particularly focused on tribal communities in San Juan County. Benally develops community-based partnerships to address systemic health disparities through culturally responsive programming and capacity building.
Benally teaches the Community Health Worker Certification course in partnership with the Utah Department of Health and leads USU Extension's Create Better Health SNAP-Ed programming for San Juan County residents. Current projects include the Community Health Worker Programming Cohort Certificate Training (2023-Ongoing), 4-H and Youth Programming Support (2024-2025), Community Health Worker Core Skills Training Program (2024-2025), and San Juan Create Better Health (2024-2025), demonstrating sustained grant-funded community engagement.
