Rwayda Al Hamd

Dr. Rwayda Al Hamd is a Lecturer in the Department of Built Environment and Life Sciences at Abertay University, specializing in structural engineering and geotechnics. Her research applies numerical modeling and machine learning to structural health monitoring, pavement engineering, and fire safety analysis.

Current projects include developing AI models for predicting concrete-steel bond performance under high temperatures, optimizing punching shear design with evolutionary algorithms, and creating eco-friendly construction materials from industrial waste. She leads initiatives promoting diversity in STEM through International Women in Engineering Day events.

Technical expertise encompasses terrestrial laser scanning for deformation monitoring, finite element analysis of structural behavior in fire conditions, and machine learning applications for infrastructure assessment.
