Dr. Ruud Hortensius is a tenured Associate Professor at the Department of Social, Health and Organisational Psychology, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Utrecht University. He is a social neuroscientist and interdisciplinary researcher combining psychology, AI, and social neuroscience to study human-AI interaction dynamics.

- MSc in Neuroscience & Cognition, Utrecht University (2011)
- BSc in Psychology (Cum Laude) with Cognitive Neuroscience major, Utrecht University (2008)
Research Focus: Investigates social cognition during long-term human-AI interactions, particularly within family contexts. Develops innovative neurocognition-at-home methods and mobile labs to study real-world social dynamics with AI. His work spans empathy, emotion perception, reward systems, and social dynamics.
