Professor Ruth Young is a Professor of Archaeology at the University of Leicester, affiliated with the School of Archaeology and Ancient History. She joined Leicester in 2000 after completing her PhD, MPhil, and undergraduate studies in Archaeological Sciences at the University of Bradford. Her research focuses on heritage, historical, and contemporary archaeology in South Asia and parts of the Middle East (Iraq, Iran, Oman, Lebanon), with particular attention to post-conflict archaeology and heritage preservation. Her work bridges regional studies and applied archaeological practices in conflict-affected regions.
