Ruth Leary

Ruth Leary is an Associate Professor and Senior Tutor at the School for Performing Arts Creative and Visual Cultures (SCAPVC) within the University of Warwick. She specializes in pedagogy, creativity theory, and creative industry management, with a focus on embodied learning, intellectual property, and digital media. Her roles include fostering industry-academia collaboration, coaching, and conflict mediation through Warwick Mediation. She holds an MA in European Cultural Policy from Warwick and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research interests span copyright law, cultural aesthetics, and sustainability, with projects like the ESRC-funded MyChainReaction and the Mediasmith Project exploring transmedia storytelling. Teaching focuses on media law, event production, and major projects for undergraduate and master’s programs. Key publications include works on transmedia sustainability and creativity in creative industries management.

Leary’s leadership roles include membership in the Creative Futures Stakeholder Group and Enterprise Partnership Committee. She pioneered Open Space Learning and Forum Theatre methodologies to enhance collaborative learning and intercultural communication.
