Ruth Jeanes is a Professor and Head of School - Curriculum, Teaching and Inclusive Education at Monash University’s Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on leveraging sport and active recreation as tools for community development, particularly addressing social exclusion among marginalized groups. She leads major grants such as the ARC Linkage-funded 'Informal sport as a health and social resource among diverse young people' ($250,000) and collaborates with organizations like VicHealth and UNICEF.
Education and Research Interests: Jeanes holds a PhD in sociology, applying feminist post-structuralism to study gender and sport. Her work spans global contexts, including HIV/AIDS education in Zambia and refugee integration in Australia. She is an Associate Editor of Leisure Sciences and contributes to journals like the International Review for the Sociology of Sport.
