Ruth Economou is a Part-Time Lecturer at the Human Services Program within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University. With over two decades of experience as a Clinical Social Worker in the Boston area, her work integrates a Social Equity Empowerment framework into clinical practice.
- Specializes in Adolescent Mental Health, Trauma Informed Care, and Mindfulness Based Clinical Care
- Recipient of the CSSH 2018-19 Outstanding Teaching Award for her pedagogic excellence
- Current clinical role at the Young Parents Program, Boston Children’s Hospital
Her research interests span cross-cultural counseling, clinician self-care, and the application of mindfulness in mental health settings. She bridges Eastern and Western ideologies in her teaching of Human Services and School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs students.
