Ruth Colker is a Distinguished University Professor and Heck Faust Memorial Chair in Constitutional Law at The Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law. She holds a B.A. in Social Studies (cum laude) and J.D. from Harvard University. A leading scholar in constitutional law and disability discrimination, her work includes over 90 law review articles and 12 books, with two Supreme Court citations. She previously served as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, earning awards for performance.
Her research focuses on disability rights, LGBTQ+ issues, and feminist legal theory. Colker’s classroom innovations include student-led accessibility studies impacting Ohio State’s policies. She has received prestigious awards, including the Distinguished University Professor title (Ohio State’s highest honor), and serves on the ACLU’s national board.
