Ruth Berins Collier

Ruth Berins Collier is Heller Professor of the Graduate School in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and joined Berkeley's faculty in 1990. Her research examines democratization, labor politics, and popular participation through comparative analysis of Latin America, Europe, and Africa.

Her core research interests include political regime change, working-class mobilization, and interest representation in contemporary democracies. She is recognized as a leading scholar in comparative politics, particularly for her work on critical junctures in Latin American political development.
