Ruth Beecher is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Historical Studies, Birkbeck, University of London. Her research focuses on histories of abuse, trauma, and recovery from survivor and practitioner perspectives, with geographical emphasis on Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales from the 1950s to present. She co-chairs the Challenging Research Network and founded Úna Gan a Gúna, a heritage charity dedicated to preserving Irish women's oral histories.

Publications focus on historical analyses of sexual violence, community health responses, and feminist methodologies. Recent works demonstrate sustained examination of professional ethics in child protection systems and innovative approaches to documenting marginalized voices.
Research leadership includes directing major funded initiatives and establishing collaborative networks that bridge academic research with community engagement and policy development.
