Russell L. Weber is a Lecturer in History at UC Berkeley specializing in Revolutionary America, political identity formation, and historical patriotism studies.
His research examines how political passions and affective identities shaped the Revolutionary era (1754-1815), with particular focus on rhetorical strategies, crowd violence, and evolving concepts of patriotism. Recent work explores emotional dimensions of political discourse during constitutional ratification and crises like the Stamp Act.
Awarded the Fred J. Martin American Political History Award (2024) and George H. Guttridge Prize (2023) for his scholarship, Weber teaches courses on American patriotism, revolution, and constitutional history.
