Dr. Runyu Shi is an Assistant Professor in Information Systems (Management) at the University of Sussex Business School's Department of Management. He previously served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Warwick Business School, where he received a Teaching Excellence Award in 2019. Dr. Shi holds a PhD and MSc (Distinction) in Information Systems and Management from Warwick Business School, and a first-class BBA in Information Management from City University of Hong Kong.
His research integrates multiple methodologies including econometrics, experiments, and machine learning to explore:
- Digital platform ecosystems and competition strategies
- Societal impacts of AI and blockchain technologies
- Digital transformation in healthcare and entrepreneurship
Dr. Shi's publications in premier venues like MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Journal demonstrate consistent focus on platform strategy evolution, with recent work examining market entry timing and innovation seeding in voice assistant ecosystems.
