Runshi Xie is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Texas A&M University, where he has been affiliated since 2018. His academic journey includes a B.S. from Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (China), an M.S. from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Horticulture (2022), followed by a postdoctoral research role (2022-2023).
Dr. Xie’s research focuses on entomology and pest management, particularly the biology and control of Crapemyrtle Bark Scale (CMBS). Key areas include host plant interactions, biological control strategies, and the application of advanced monitoring technologies like electrical penetration graphs. His work bridges horticultural science with ecological principles, emphasizing sustainable solutions for invasive pest management.
His publications (2020–2023) highlight studies on CMBS life tables, host specificity, and the potential of green lacewings as biological agents. Recent work explores microalgae-based biostimulants and plant regeneration systems for resistant crapemyrtle species.
Xie teaches BIOL 111 Introductory Biology I, integrating lecture and laboratory components to cover foundational biological concepts. While no specific grants or awards are noted, his contributions to agricultural entomology and pest management are evident through his active publication record.
