Rune Graulund is an Associate Professor in the Department of Culture and Language at the University of Southern Denmark. His research focuses on American literature and culture through the lenses of speculative fiction, particularly examining intersections between gothic, science fiction, and climate fiction (cli-fi). He explores how speculative genres address contemporary crises including environmental collapse, technological anxieties, and planetary emergencies.

As principal investigator, he is involved in the 'MAP: Writing Travel in the Twenty-First Century' project (2025-2029) funded by Denmark's Independent Research Fund, and previously led the 'Future Desert: Wasteland Imaginaries of the Anthropocene' project (2020-2021) supported by the Carlsberg Foundation.
