Melanie Ebdon is a Senior Lecturer in Literary Studies at Staffordshire University, affiliated with the School of Digital, Tech, Innovation & Business. She has taught since 2000, specializing in contemporary literature and transitioning from Victorian studies. Her research focuses on ecocentric trends, postmodernism, and climate realism in modern writing. She holds a PhD from Bangor University, a HEA Fellowship, and an MA with the John F. Denby Memorial Prize.
Her expertise includes Ecocriticism, Caribbean Magical Realism, and Eco-gothic literature. She teaches modules on Ecocriticism, Postcolonial literatures, Gothic fiction, and Victorian literature. Her recent work analyzes climate realism in Jon McGregor’s novels and Sarah Hall’s writings.

Her research interests span eco-literature, cli-fi, and the Anthropocene, with a focus on environmental narratives and posthumanism. She has contributed to interdisciplinary studies blending philosophy and literary analysis.
