Runa Dawood is an Academic Tutor at the Oxford Institute for Clinical Psychology Training and Research (OxICPTR), University of Oxford, where she joined in April 2025. She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London (2022), with her thesis exploring compassion's role in post-sexual-trauma distress. Her professional foundation includes dual training as a psychodynamic/systemic couples therapist and CBT therapist.
Her research integrates:
- Trauma & Compassion: Specialized complex trauma work at Tavistock and Portman clinic, focusing on therapy experiences for sexual trauma survivors.
- Intervention Diversity: Strength-based approaches in schools (MSc Child/Adolescent Mental Health) and service-user experiences in addiction RCTs (MSc Psychological Research Methods).
- Clinical Applications: Expertise in dual-diagnosis cases, community mental health, and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) with emphasis on equality/diversity through the Compassionate Mind Foundation.
She previously co-chaired the BPS DCP Minorities Group, driving initiatives for representation in clinical psychology via training, policy liaison (GTiCP/NHS England), and mentorship programs for aspiring psychologists.
