Dr. Rui Zhong is a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Master of Applied Finance Program Coordinator at the UWA Business School, University of Western Australia. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Concordia University and is a CFA and FRM charterholder. His academic roles include serving as Principle Contacts for the University’s affiliated programs with CFA Institute and GARP.
Dr. Zhong’s education includes a Ph.D. in Finance (2008–2013, Concordia University), Master in Financial Risk Management (2005–2006, Simon Fraser University), and Bachelor of Economics (2001–2005, Nankai University). He previously served as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at Central University of Finance and Economics and was a Scholar-in-Residence at Concordia University.
His research focuses on sustainable finance, ESG integration, energy finance, credit derivatives, and financial risk management. Notable contributions include the 2024 Financial Times-recognized study on mandatory ESG disclosure and SEC policy influence, and the 2021 GRASFI Best Paper Award-winning work on sustainable finance. He has presented globally at institutions like the UNDP, Bank of Canada, and AFA Annual Meetings.
Research funding includes grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Climateworks Foundation, and Canadian Derivative Institute. Awards include the UWA Business School Mid-Career Research Award (2024) and AFAANZ Best Paper Award (2019).
Dr. Zhong leads collaborative projects on climate policy engagement, green finance impacts, and sustainable development goals. His work bridges academia and industry, emphasizing policy implications and global financial market dynamics.
