Rui Roberts

Dr. Rui Roberts (nee Dai) is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in Accounting and Finance at the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) at the University of the West of England (UWE). She joined UWE in May 2017 and has held leadership roles in modules such as Fundamentals of Accounting 2, Introduction to Management Accounting, and others. Her research focuses on Management Accounting and Management Control Systems in the public sector, particularly Costing, Budgeting, and Beyond Budgeting, with a methodology combining qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys.

Key publication: 'Are universities adopting alternative solutions to the wasteful 'use it or lose it' approach to their annual budgets?' (2013), which examines budgeting trends in higher education.
