معرفی
Rudy Valentine, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy & Kinesiology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He is affiliated with the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences, focusing on exercise physiology, metabolism, skeletal muscle biology, and cardiometabolic disease. His research explores mechanisms of behavioral and pharmacological interventions to mitigate obesity, diabetes, and muscular dystrophy, combining basic science with translational human studies.
Education:
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Boston University, 2011–2014
- Ph.D., University of Illinois, Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology), 2010
- M.S., James Madison University, Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology), 2005
- B.S., University of Illinois, Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology), 2003
Research Focus: Dr. Valentine’s work investigates how exercise, diet, and pharmacological therapies impact muscle health, metabolic disorders, and aging. His lab employs cell culture, rodent models, and clinical studies to study skeletal muscle function, insulin resistance, and ER stress. Key areas include the effects of alcohol, heat stress, and dietary interventions on muscle biology and systemic metabolism.
Publications: Recent articles highlight studies on stress-alcohol interactions, ER stress in muscle pathology, and pharmacological agents like Imoxin. These contributions underscore his interdisciplinary approach bridging basic and translational research.
Labs/Teams: His laboratory integrates molecular, cellular, and human physiological approaches to address public health challenges, particularly in aging and chronic disease prevention.
