Rudolf Valenta

Rudolf Valenta is a Professor of Allergology at the Medical University of Vienna (MedUni Vienna), leading the Division of Immunopathology at its Institute of Pathophysiology & Allergy Research. He holds a Foreign Adjunct Professorship at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden. His academic journey includes a medical degree from the University of Vienna and postdoctoral specialization in general/experimental pathology, with a focus on immunology and pathophysiology.

His research interests center on allergy and immunology, particularly advancing prevention and therapies for allergic disorders. He coordinates the Austrian Science Fund’s SFB F46 project on allergy research. With ~550 publications (h-index 78), over 20,000 citations, and 132 international patents, he is recognized as a pioneer in biomedical innovation. Awards include the ACAAI’s International Distinguished Fellow Award (2016) and MedUni’s Inventor of the Year (2012).

Valenta serves on MedUni Vienna’s Senate and actively contributes to academic governance. His work bridges basic research, clinical application, and industry partnerships, emphasizing translational medicine.
